Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A group of ten BJP legislators from North Bengal, led by party strategist Shankar Ghosh, arrived in Delhi today to demand key development projects for the region. The legislators aim to meet Union Minister for Environment and Forests Bhupender Yadav to request the designation of Mahananda and Gorumara wildlife sanctuaries as 'ecologically sensitive areas' or biodiversity zones, aiming to preserve the area’s rich flora and fauna.
The delegation also plans to press for the establishment of an AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) in North Bengal to improve healthcare access. They have sought a meeting with Union Health Minister JP Nadda to discuss the urgent need for better medical facilities in the region. Alongside healthcare, the group will advocate for a central university, sports village, military school, and a branch of the Eastern Regional Cultural Center in the area.
The legislators emphasized the need for these developments to address long-standing issues of neglect and deprivation in North Bengal. These demands are part of a broader effort to push for central government support and infrastructure projects aimed at boosting the region’s economic and social welfare.
